Did you know we have two separate cover options for items in your RV or trailer? Depending how you travel and what you take with you, insuring the items in your RV can be one of the things that is either top of your list or easily forgotten. It can also be easy to assume what would and wouldn't be covered. To help you navigate our product and make an informed decision for your RV's contents, let's break it down.
Contents
Cover for your contents is included as part of your policy, with a maximum of $2,000 of contents cover included in our comprehensive insurance policy. This is for the accidental loss of (including theft), or physical damage to your contents whilst contained in your recreational vehicle, lockable trailer or lockable storage bin. Common items covered include mattresses and appliances, with jewellery, watches and bicycles (including e-bikes) also included, however limited to $1000 per item.

Your contents cover can be increased to a nominated amount for an additional premium cost. This is limited to the agreed value of the vehicle they are kept in.
It's also important to understand what isn't covered under this benefit. You should refer to our Product Disclosure Statement PDS for any exclusions.
Valuables
Valuables means jewellery, watches, cameras (including camera equipment), sporting equipment (including e-bikes), hearing-aids and glasses that are specifically listed on your policy schedule.
Whereas items like jewellery and bikes are limited to an insured value of $1,000 under the contents product, listing them as valuables enables them to exceed that threshold. Like the additional contents cover, this can be increased to match the sum insured of your recreational vehicle, at the cost of additional premium. Valuables cover also isn't restricted to the confines of your RV. A ring you listed gets lost on a hike? covered. Someone steals your listed bike from under your awning? Covered. For full-time travellers, photography pros or those with an aversion for shiny things, this cover is a good one to wrap your head around.

Excesses
Contents
Our contents cover has a reduced excess of $200 per insured event. It can be claimed outside of a regular insurance claim, so if something is damaged or stolen, you can still make a claim without damage to your vehicle.
Valuables
At the inception of any of our policies, you can decide on a basic excess which is what you would pay if you were to have a claim. This can range anywhere from $500 to $5,000. If you need to make a claim for a listed valuable item, this same excess will apply once per claim. If you travel with many valuable items, this may affect your excess choice. Much like the contents cover, it can be claimed at any time.

The Bottom Line
Having compared the two covers, it's now up to you how you cover your belongings. Whether you're a keen photographer who documents their travels through their camera’s lens or are an avid mountain biker, hitting the trails at each and every stop, everyone travels differently. Knowing what you're covered for means less time stressing and more time adventuring.
